Stay Under the Stars at Mount Barney Lodge

This isn’t just a workshop — it’s a photographic retreat in one of the most breathtaking corners of Queensland. Mt Barney Lodge offers everything we need to relax, reset, and focus deeply on our photography.

  • Wake up to mist rolling over the mountain — right from your cabin window
  • Fall asleep beneath the Milky Way after an epic astro shoot
  • Enjoy our own editing space for post-processing sessions and creative chats
  • Relax by the campfire, explore nearby trails, and recharge between sessions
  • Private or twin-share rooms available in a rustic, comfortable setting

It’s remote, peaceful, and the perfect base for three days of inspiration and photography. You bring your gear — I’ll bring the guidance, the locations, and the spark. Let’s make magic under the stars.

FAQs

Where is the workshop based?

We’ll stay in accommodation at Mount Barney Lodge. It includes a meeting room for editing and presentations. The full address will be provided after booking.

Is accommodation included?

Yes — 2 nights of shared or private accommodation included. This makes logistics smoother, especially for sunrise and late-night astro shoots.

How do I get there?

Drive or catch transport to the accommodation. From there, I’ll drive you to all photo locations in a 4WD — no need to navigate or hire a car.

What’s the fitness level required?

Light to moderate. Walks include 1km round trip to Yellow Pinch Lookout (gentle incline) and short rainforest tracks at Elabana Falls.

Can I bring a drone?

Drone use is not permitted inside Mount Barney National Park. However, depending on nearby locations and airspace laws, we may advise optional drone use outside the park.

Do I need to know Manual mode?

Not at all — this workshop is suitable for both beginner and intermediate photographers. I’ll guide you through your settings for every shot.

What happens in bad weather?

We adapt. Cloudy nights mean more editing time in our shared workspace. If rain hits a shoot, we pivot to another site or topic (like waterfalls or moody mist).
